Startup independent electronics distributor Fusion Inc. said today that it has built a 6,000-square-foot test and measurement facility where devices and components and can be tested against counterfeiting.
The Andover, Mass.-based company also said it would offer a no counterfeiting pledge under which it will back the products it ships with a $5 million guarantee.
"Counterfeiting is a challenge facing the entire distribution industry, and it needs to be addressed head on," John Irving, Fusion VP, said in a statement. "While Fusion carefully screens and qualifies all of our suppliers, and has never been a victim of counterfeiting, we are aware of many companies in the industry that have been victims," he said.
Fusion will automatically test any suspect products, and will provide customers with the option, for no charge, to have any product inspected here prior to taking receipt of the goods. If, despite Fusion’s testing, a client receives a counterfeit product, Fusion will replace the product, refund 5 percent of the purchase price and provide up to $5 million in liability coverage to the customer to deal with any impact to the customer’s production line or scheduling, the company said.
