TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. has opened a new design and support center in Chelmsford, Mass.
The center, called the New England Design Center, is part of the company’s efforts to work more closely with strategic partners and customers on development of next-generation wireless modules and components.
The 15,000 foot facility will consolidate design and engineering support work previously handled in Lowell, Mass. and Nashua, N.H.
“The goal for the new facility is to have a single design center to boost the company’s creativity and foster collaboration among engineers and scientific experts from both TriQuint and our customers in the New England region,” said David Pye, VP of TriQuint Oregon. TriQuint is based in Hillsboro, Ore. “The focus for development work at the center is to leverage TriQuint’s wireless component expertise and translate that into module solutions for our customers.”
Work at the center covers a wide array of gallium arsenide (GaAs) technologies and communication standards. TriQuint’s New England Design center employs 25 engineers, and plans call for that number to increase. The new center is one of three design centers for TriQuint, with the two others in Taiwan and Germany.
The company’s manufacturing facilities and their affiliated design groups are located in Hillsboro, in Richardson, Texas, and in Orlando, Fla.
