Broadband solutions provider Ikanos Communications Inc. is set to buy Doradus Technologies Inc., a digital TV DSP startup founded by Ikanos' former director of engineering, Sam Heidari.

As part of the acquisition, Ikanos will be adding a team of seven engineers at its facilities in Fremont, Calif. More specific details of the deal, such as price or closing date, were not disclosed.

Ikanos will add Doradus' DoraVision VSB/QAM demodulator, which is designed for digital TV applications, to its line of triple play products.

"Ikanos' leadership position in the broadband access market opens up significant opportunities for our digital TV and wireline intellectual property," Heidari, CEO of Doradus Technologies, said in a statement. "We are excited to join Ikanos. Together, we believe we can extend our lead by developing and delivering innovative triple play products.
