PXI Multimeters resolve to 7-1/2 digits
National Instruments' PXI 4071 Flex DMM is the first 7-1/2 digit DMM for PXI-based systems. It's also the company's first 7-1/2 digit DMM (26 bit) for any bus. Using the company's Flex DMM technology, the PXI 4071 runs at several speed/resolution combinations. The table highlights the cards capabilities.
Software support includes the NI-DMM driver, which includes a LabView Express VI. You also get a soft-front panel application so you can set up and debug your system before you apply application-specific code.
Price: $2495. Options include probes and a 10-A current shunt.

Signametrics announced two versions of its 7-1/2 digit PXI DMM cards. The Model SMX2060 samples at up to 1400 readings/s, while its counterpart, the Model SMX2064, samples up to 20,000 readings/s. Both models resolve input signals to 24,000,000 counts, which provides 10 nV of resolution. For current measurements, the cards can resolve down to 0.1 pA.
Both the SMX2060 and SMX2064 models measure voltage, current, four-wire resistance, frequency, and temperature through thermocouples. The SMX2064 adds inductance, six-wire resistance, a totalizer, and temperature measurements (with RTD sensors). It also includes voltage and current source capabilities and a pulse/pattern generator.
Both Signametrics DMM cards come with a stand-alone software application that provides you with the look and feel of a bench DMM. Drivers for Windows and Linux also accompany each card.
Prices: SMX2064--$2,395, SMX2060--$1,595.
