DFM gains emphasis with Cadence purchase
May 31, 2006
Cadence Design Systems has purchased DFM start-up Praesagus (Campbell, CA), according to Michael Santarini, senior editor at sibling publication EDN. In the acquisition, he reports, Cadence gains the company’s physics-based interconnect-thickness-variation modeling technology, and he predicts that this low-key $25.8 million acquisition may be "just the quiet beginning of a DFM-start-up-acquisition binge in the EDA sector."
Ann Steffora Mutschler of Electronic News reported in February on some of the issues driving DFM's importance in "DFM Has Potential to Build Partnerships, But Will It?"
